Bass Fishing Team
INDIANA UNIVERSITY
The Bass Fishing Club @ Indiana University is a 100% student run organization compiled of over 45 bass fishing enthusiasts eager to learn more about the sport we love. Established in 1987 by Prof. Steve Lutz, we were the first collegiate team ever founded. Since then, we've grown to be a nationally recognized club competing in numerous tournaments across the country within the College BASS, ACA, and MLF tournament trails. Aside from bi-weekly club meetings, we hold 4 or more club tournaments per year as well as compete against local schools in annual tournaments including "The Ice Box" and the "Old Minnow Bucket". We strive to uphold the highest level of sportsmanship and compete to the best of our abilities as we represent both our sponsors and Indiana University.
2021 ACA Big Bass Bash
March 13-14, 2021
Four of our teams spent the week down on Kentucky Lake fishing the annual ACA Big Bass Bash in search of catching the biggest bass of almost 400 anglers. Nate Pardo came out on top for IU bringing in a 5.25lb largemouth that secured a win in the 1st weigh in session on day 1 and 4th place overall. Adam Troyer was not far behind with a 5.06lb largemouth that anchored a 3rd place finish in the final weigh in session on day 2 and a 6th place finish overall! Other notable finishes include Adam Troyer with a 5th place in day 1 session 1 as well as a 8th place in day 2 session 1. James Yuska also brought in a fish good enough for 9th place on day 2 session 1.
St. Lawrence River- Bassmaster College Series
June 19-21, 2019
Joe Long and Logan Wade spent a week in Waddington, New York on the St. Lawrence River. They were able to sack up an unbelievable 19lb 9oz bag on the first day and 15lb 13oz bag on the second day, bringing them to a total weight of 35lbs 6oz putting them in 96th out of 150 boats. There were some incredible weights to come to the scales on this incredible fishery! A huge thank you to Joe Long for all he has done for the club this past year as our president, what a way to end your collegiate fishing career! Also, as always, a huge shoutout to all of our sponsors for even making this possible!

C.A.S.T. for Kids Event
July 2018
This year, the IU Bass Fishing Club saw an opportunity to make a difference. Officers Clayton Davis and Joe Long applied for and received a grant of $5,000 through the Indiana University Student Foundation Metz Grant Committee. This money was used to hold a C.A.S.T. for Kids event on our home lake of Lake Monroe. The C.A.S.T. Foundation is an organization that helps children with disabilities and their families get out on the water for a fun-filled day of fishing. Being a part of such an amazing event and seeing smiles on so many faces was a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved. Hosting this event was a community effort and would not have been possible without the help of our many partners:
- The IU Student Foundation Metz Grant Committee
- Salt Creek Tackle
- AFTCO
- Solarbat Sunglasses
- Jack's Donuts of Bloomington
- Limestone BBQ
